News for Ward 5

Six Points Interchange Reconfiguration - EA goes to committee on November 29th

The City's Transportation Services and City Planning divisions have completed the Six Points Interchange Reconfiguration Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study. The technically preferred design alternative is the Fully At-Grade Dundas Street Loop. The preferred design alternative includes the following features:

Royal York Bike Lane - Opening event, July 15

While it's clear that there's still lots of room for improvement in
Toronto's cycling environment, it's also important to celebrate newly
installed bike lanes. Come join the City in celebrating the completion
of one of Toronto's newest bike lanes: Royal York Road (from Delroy Drive to Mimico Creek).

Date: Tuesday, July 15th

Time: 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Location: East side of Royal York Road, at Castlebar Road.

Free juice and snacks will be provided.

Etobicoke Cyclists - Your Councillor Wants to Hear From You!

Ward 5 Etobicoke Councillor Peter Milczyn posted a Bike Lane survey to his website last week. Please take a moment to complete it. You can find it here.

Also the I Bike TO blog has some great commentary about the Bloor and West Mall bike lanes in western Etobicoke. Available here and here.

Comments regarding these routes or the bike plan as it pertains to your ward.:
There already is a bike lane on Royal York so I don't understand what you're getting at. It could have been a segregated lane. the west mall bike lane is a bad idea as it is a very heavy truck route. the same for shorncliffe. north Queen could be a segregated/off road bike trail, but again not really linking anything to anything . not aware of where or how the Dundas route is proposed. The Six Points road reconfiguration which I have championed will allow for bike lanes and a vastly improved pedestrian realm.
