Yesterday, TCAT News reported on the disappointing defeat for bike lanes at last week's Public Works and Infrastructure Committee meeting. Cycling advocates from a broad range of groups have been working hard in the past few days, trying to find out what can done to continue pushing for the full bike lane on Annette Street - instead of sharrows - and reverse the committee's decision when it goes to City Council for approval on October 29-30.
The message advocates are hearing is that City Council needs to hear from cyclists in the next few days if there is any chance to turn around this decision. It's important that this bike lane project go through, in order to maintain a strong precedent that bicycling is valued and that Council can make tough decisions in order to protect the safety of cyclists.
Please take a moment to follow the instructions below and voice your support. It's especially important that write in if you live in Ward 13 Parkdale-High Park.
Thanks to members of ARC and World 19 for passing on the information.
If you know of other cycling or pedestrian related calendars to include, please let us know by e-mailing info@torontocat.ca
TCAT is continually looking to increase its list of supporters. It helps to be able to say how many people and organizations support the work we do when we speak with City Councillors, City staff, and the media, or put out a publication. Please send this message to any groups or individuals you think would be interested in learning more about TCAT, receiving our weekly e-Bulletin, or volunteering with TCAT.
